Louise Buchanan

Technical Specialist, Architecture

At Microdesk, Louise provides technical support and training for our building engineering and architectural clients.

Louise has over six years of experience working as a CAD designer, drafter, and analyst on a wide variety of residential, commercial, and institutional projects.
Prior to joining Microdesk she worked at Brooks Pharmacy’s corporate headquarters, where she served a dual-role as CAD Manager and Designer.
As the CAD manager, she was responsible for researching, selecting and implementing new software and hardware. She also worked as a designer, creating fixture plans for new stores, remodels, relocations and expansions of existing stores. Louise also gained experience as a CAD/GIS drafter while on staff at Brown University.
There she helped develop an integrated solution that tracked and analyzed campus-wide property for the university’s facilities management department.

Louise holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural/Building Engineering Technology from the New England Institute of Technology in Warwick, RI.

Manufacturing Content for AEC industry and Seek 

The topic revolves around the issues of the AEC industry requiring more sophisticated Blocks/Symbols for these new technologies like Revit and Civil 3D.
 
We will discuss how the Manufacturing industry is adapting to these changes and providing content that can be used for Lighting studies, 3D Visualizations, Connection to Systems in an Engineering drawing and using for Specifications.
